Lavender Festival Hours: 10 am to 5 pm
Carol and Charles Tannenbaum manage their small lavender farm in the McKenzie River Valley about ten miles east of Springfield, Oregon. Located among the pastoral beauty of hazelnut orchards and pastures of grazing cattle or romping horses, the farm adds bright color and sweet aromas to the summer experience of the Valley. Carol had gardened for many years before they started the lavender venture in 2003. The farm is a member of the McKenzie River Country Trail. Visit www.oregoncountrytrails.com. In 2010 we'll be celebrating the opening of our Lavender Labyrinth. Join us for a meditative walk through our lavender field beside the beautiful McKenzie River.
Lavender varieties include Lavandula x intermedia cultivars ‘Grosso’, ‘Abrialii’, and ‘Provence’ and Lavandula angustifolia cultivars ‘Hidcote’ and ‘Royal Velvet’. The farm’s specialty lavender products include: 'Grosso' essential oil and hydrosol, pillows handmade of chenille and vintage handkerchiefs filled with dried spikes, organza sachets in various colors, dried floral bunches and wreaths, satin eye pillows, colorful ribbon-woven wands, culinary lavender, and fresh bouquets in season.
The farm is open to visitors during the Lavender Festival including the Friday before and will offer u-cut lavender, lavender plants, and lavender lemonade and treats. Vendors will be selling handcrafted skin care products, lavenders soaps and lotions, fresh wreaths, and planters. Also open by appointment at (541) 736-8575 or caroltan@q.com
